Introducing: PRP Community Builder

Objective:

The Community Builder is central to developing a cohesive, supportive, and nurturing environment within a patient-oriented research team, particularly in studies bringing partners together from all different environments. This role prioritizes building internal community and connections, founded on mutual aid, solidarity, and reciprocity. While there is potential for external community engagement, the primary focus is on enhancing the internal team dynamics. The Community Builder should not be rigid in any planning with continual engagement, feedback and direction from the group.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Enhancing Connection and Trust: Implement strategies that foster trusting, supportive relationships within the team, grounded in mutual aid and solidarity.

  2. Promoting a Culture of Support and Reciprocity: Develop a team culture where mutual support and the exchange of help and resources are the norm.

  3. Establishing Psychological Safety: Ensure an environment where team members can freely express ideas and concerns, understanding the crucial role psychological safety plays in encouraging open communication and diverse perspectives.

  4. Advocating for Inclusivity and Equity: Champion inclusivity, ensuring equitable participation and voice for all team members, especially those from minoritized groups.

  5. Knowledge and Experience Exchange: Facilitate sessions for sharing knowledge and experiences, embodying the principles of mutual aid.

  6. Balancing Power Dynamics: Monitor and address power dynamics within the team, promoting shared decision-making and recognizing each member's unique contributions.

  • Fosters Collaborative Innovation: By creating a psychologically safe and supportive environment, the Community Builder enables the team to engage in more innovative and creative research approaches.
